Marg is a highly experienced emergency manager with 25 years of professional local, national and international experience, and recently served as a senior advisor (as a member of an international Crisis Management Team) providing clients with emergency management expert level advice and mentorship. Marg was the 1st President of OAEM (originally establsihed as CEPA-Ontario, and served as President from 1997-2003.
Marg received her Certified Emergency Manager designation in 1994, and was the President of International Association of Emergency Managers in 2005-06. Marg earned her Masters degree in Disaster and Emergency Management in 2009 from Royal Roads, and wrote the chapter "The Evolving Roles of Emergency" in the on-line book Disaster and Emergency Management in Canada, published on the Canadian Risk and Hazards Network website.
In June 2011, Marg received the prestigious Canadian Award for Emergency Management presented by the Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness during the World Conference on Disaster Management in Toronto, Ontario. In November 2011, Marg was inducted into the International Women in Homeland Security & Emergency Management Hall of Fame during the IAEM US Annual Conference, held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
