Our OAEM-Online Community
Our OAEM-Online Community
Developing OAEM-Online is a project which has been undertaken by the Ontario Association of Emergency to better serve its members and provide them with resources to help them advance their careers and more effectively do their jobs. A major financial and manpower investment will be required by OAEM directors and members to fully implement OAEM-Online, but in the end the investment will pay dividents to those who choose to use it. These dividends will enable the OAEM executive and directors to more effectively manage and operate your association. They will also provide members with enhanced networking, collaboration and information sharing tools that exceed those available today.
OAEM members who want to take advantage of on line networking for career development and to have access to additional resources to help with ones daily challenges should contact Christel Ivanyshyn.
Some of the features which OAEM-Online will provide to our members and board of directors are:
- Enhanced networking by making OAEM member's profiles available to fellow members.
- Enhanced opportunities for collaboration by through the use of blogs, discussion forums and wikis
- Improved communication through powerful blogs which can include images, video and attachments
- Improved communication through broadcast messages to all OAEM members or groups of members
- Improved professional development opportunities by sharing workshop highlights and presentations
- Improved training opportunities as new on line training courses and mentoring programs are added
- Powerful search capability enables searching blogs, discussion forums or the entire community
- Individual member's briefcase for secure on line file storage
- Improved administration by providing providing on line management and administration tools for sharing OAEM records and documents, planning calendars and soon to be added web conferencing and project management tools
- The technology on which OAEM-Online is bult, is available to OAEM members and sponsors to support their local emergency management programs and projects. Public or secure private group spaces can be developed for a reasonable cost for a specified time or for ongoing use. An example of this is the OAEM-Online Members section. Group spaces have been used for exercise planning, and can be used to facilitate collaboration or interoperability discussions in support of ones emergency management program. Sponsors / suppliers can also use group spaces to facilitate discussion on using their products and services. For a quotation on developing your group space contact Christel Ivanyshyn.
