Certification ....
Professional Certification - Canadian Emergency Managers now have the opportunity to write the Certified Emergency Managers Certification exam with revised content specific to Canada and that adheres to the standards set by the IAEM CEM Commission. The first opportunity to write in Canada was at the 2007 WCDM Conference in Toronto that also included the opportunity to attend a CEM Preparatory Course. In February 2008, the IAEM Board of Directors voted to eliminate the application fee for the Certification Booklet. See news release for more details. For more information on the CEM Exam, CEM Examination Preparatory Course and new fee structure please follow this link: For more information on the CEMŪ, visit http://www.iaem.com/certification/generalinfo/intro.htm. Organzational Certification/accreditation: The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is putting the final touches on a Canadian standard on Emergency Management and Business Continuity. This standard will provide Canadian Emergency Managers, from the public, private and NGO sectors, with a foundation on which to build their Emergency Management & Business Continuity Programs and with which to self-evaluate their programs. The CSA Technical Committee on EM&BC continues to meet to finalize this standard in 2008. To further aid in providing tools for organizations, options are being investigated to evolve a process that would allow organizations to achieve accreditation of their Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs. |
