OAEM-Online is an on line community that supports and supplements the traditional programs provided by the Ontario Association of Emergency Managers. Folks who can view and participate in OAEM-Online activities can be divided into two categories.

• VIEWERS - The public sections of OAEM-Online can be viewed by OAEM members and any member of the public who has an interest in emergency management. Viewers can comment on blogs, discussion forums etc. where commenting is turned on. Viewers do not have member profiles and do not have access to private OAEM-Online members and Directors sections. These is no cost associated with an OAEM-Online viewer.
• Members -  OAEM-Online members have individual member profiles and depending on their assigned roles and responsibilities have access to private OAEM-Online members, Directors and other private sections.  OAEM-Online members can, like viewers, comment on blogs, discussion forums etc. where commenting is turned on. In addition, OAEM-Online members can post events to the events calendar, write blog articles, initiate discussion forums, add articles to the wiki knowledge base.  Depending on their roles OAEM-Online members may have access to other private blogs, discussion forums or group spaces which are mini special purpose communities within OAEM-Online. OAEM-Online membership provides OAEM-Online members with additional featuers, services and access to powerful communication and collaboration tools, not previously available to OAEM members. There is currently no additional cost to be an OAEM-Online member, but because of the cost involved in providing OAEM-Online, membership is limited to directors, volunteers who operate OAEM programs and OAEM members who are committed to actively support the development of OAEM-Online.  OAEM is currently investigating options to support the expansion of OAEM-Online.
