An overview of the new Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and its regulations related to Emergency Plan requirements for long-term care homes.

2. Recognize the consultation and collaboration possibilities at various government and non-government organizations/partners
3. Awareness of some of the challenges long-term care homes  experience in developing emergency plans

Speakers

Rena Bowen RN, Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care 

Title: Senior Policy Advisor, Long-Term Care Pandemic Response
 
Rena is a registered nurse with several years of experience as a long-term care home Administrator and Director of Care. 

She has been with the Ministry of Long-Term Care since 2013, first as a Nursing Inspector then as Senior Policy Advisor with the Public Inquires Unit and presently with the Pandemic Response Unit. 
One of the Rena’s responsibilities is to support long-term care homes as they develop their emergency and evacuation plans.


Anastasia Seretis, MPA, Ministry of Long-Term Care

Title: Policy Analyst
Long-Term Care Pandemic Response

Anastasia is a Policy Analyst at the Ministry of Long-Term Care’s Pandemic Response Division. She works on various files, including Emergency Planning and Preparedness Planning. Anastasia supported the development of the Long-Term Care Emergency Preparedness Manual, a tool for assisting homes in establishing effective emergency and evacuation plans, achieving compliance with applicable legislation and regulation, and promoting quality improvement. She recently completed a Master of Public Administration at Queen’s University to further cultivate her interests in health and public policy.
